Avoid using colorized text in small font sizes. Due to minor inconsistencies in the alignment of color plates during printing (known as mis-registration), the cyan, magenta, yellow, and black layers may not align perfectly, causing a slight "halo" effect around the text.
Colored text is fine for large headlines or text as small as 14 points, but smaller sizes may make the mis-registration more noticeable and impact readability. The same guideline applies to white (knock-out) text on a dark or colored background. While possible, avoid using font sizes below 14 points to ensure the text remains clear and professional-looking.
